Denise Le Dantec
Biography
Denise The Dantec
(born in 1939, in Morlaix
lives and works in Paris)
Denise Le Dantec is a French poet and artist. Associate of Philosophy at the Sorbonne, she has published around thirty books, many of which are devoted to the aesthetics and history of gardens.
Working between Ile Grande (Côtes-d'Armor) and Paris, she is the author of a varied selection of works, poetic, philosophical and novelistic, which are translated into many languages. She has also contributed to the PUF Philosophical Dictionary and the Robert Cultural Dictionary.
Painter and sculptor, she follows a plastic training with three major artists: Josephine Chevry, a French sculptor who obtained the Grand Prix of Rome in 1966, Albert Diato, a painter, ceramist and poet, and Piza, an engraver. During her stay in Holland, she met Lucebert; a poet, painter and draftsman, who will make her discover the CoBrA movement, to which she will adhere.
Denise Le Dantec received the St Fiacre Prize, organized by the Association of Garden and Horticulture Journalists. France Culture dedicated to her a program produced by Catherine Soullard entitled "The hen house roses". She is also a member of SACEM, as a songwriter, and has directed several short films.
"The sculpture itself is practiced by Denise Le Dantec with an obvious sense of space, form and material. A completely personal universe emerges from her works, a universe that appears as an opposition to a threatening outside, the will to conspiracy and domination of this threat "
Lionel Richard, journalist at Literary Magazine and France Culture
