Takesada Matsutani
Biography
Takesada Matsutani
(born in 1937, Osaka, Japan )
The act of repition to reinforce and expand accumulated energy is an establsihed method of creative endeavors. Matsutani incorporates elements of time and repetition to capture the dynamic motion of energy, magnifying its effect.
Sensuality for Matsutani reverberates in all things. He creates his own terrain, a matrix of energy that is a furtile landscape from which flow pure manifistations of life.
The silvery balckness of his surfaces are a palimpsest of references, of his years pressing ink into paper with copper plates as well as his studied engagement and reinvetion of the ink tradition in East Asia. In his works, time and body interwire and are embodies in material, a bold assertion of slow in our world of velocity.
