Emna Daoud
Biography
Born in 1998, Emna Daoud lives and works in Paris. She draws inspiration from her memories and feelings deeply rooted in the culture of her native Tunisia. Inspired by the velvety textures of fruit, the ornamental patterns of Andalusian ceramics, craftsmanship, and arabesques, she transcribes a rich and vibrant sensory universe onto her canvases.
Emna began painting in 2002 in Strasbourg, then returned to Tunisia from 2008 to 2016. Back in France, she settled in Paris and continued her studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Paris-Cergy. In 2022, she began training in Heritage Restoration and Conservation, specializing in Painting, at the École de Condé in Paris.
In her artistic approach, Emna is particularly interested in the illusion of reality. She explores the sensual texture of fruit and the opalescence of ceramics, elements that are present both in her Tunisian environment and in the still lifes of Louyse Moillon, a 17th-century painter. Through these objects, she recreates a sensory journey where the use of colors and textures invites the viewer to a visual and tactile experience. Using large canvases, Emna highlights the most expressive elements of her subjects, drawing attention to vivid details and hidden forms, paying tribute to the beauty and presence of everyday objects.
Through her art, Emna Daoud offers a poetic reinterpretation of classical still life, revisiting elements of the past with a contemporary sensibility that restores their vibrancy and uniqueness.
