Biographie

Kim Dae-Soo
(né en 1955, Séoul, Corée)

Kim Dae-Soo entame des études de photographie à la prestigieuse université Hongik, puis achève sa formation à la Parsons School et au Pratt Institute, à New York. De retour en Corée, il devient lui-même professeur de photographie. Depuis plus de 10 ans, il explore les caractéristiques esthétiques du bambou qui symbolise la droiture de l'homme. Son travail sur les temps de pause et sur l'inversion en négatif lui permet d'inverser notre vision du monde et ses photographies inversées font référence à l'interaction entre le Yin et le Yang, et mettent ainsi en scène la métaphysique de l'Extrême-Orient de manière abstraite, c'est-à-dire géométrique. Kim Dae-Soo explore la relation profonde et sacrée de l'homme à la nature. Il produit une oeuvre troublante, entre abstraction et figuration.
